ResizeKB

Privacy Policy

ResizeKB is designed so that trusting us is unnecessary: the tools on this site process your images entirely inside your own browser. This policy explains, in plain language, exactly what happens to anything you load here and what the site itself can and cannot know about you.

Your images

When you drag or select an image on any ResizeKB page, the file is read by your browser's built-in file and graphics APIs. It is decoded into memory, re-encoded there if you compress it, and written back to you as a download. At no point is an image transmitted to a server operated by us or anyone else, and no copy is stored anywhere. Closing the tab, resetting the tool, or leaving the page discards the image completely. We cannot recover it, and neither can anyone else.

Local storage preference

The site stores exactly one preference on your device using your browser's local storage: the last target size in kilobytes that you used with the compressor, under the key resizekb:last-target-kb. This exists only so the slider starts at your preferred size on your next visit. It is not sent to us, it is not shared with third parties, and you can remove it at any time by clearing your browser's site data or using your browser's private browsing mode, in which case the tools simply use their default values.

Advertising and third parties

ResizeKB is free and supported by advertising. Ad slots on this site are clearly labeled as advertisements. When real advertising is enabled, our advertising partners — such as Google AdSense — may use cookies or similar technologies to serve and measure ads, including personalized ads where permitted by law. You can control personalized advertising through Google's Ads Settings, through your browser's cookie controls, or via industry opt-out tools such as YourOnlineChoices. The site also loads fonts from Google Fonts, which involves a request to Google's servers when a page is displayed.

What we do not do

We do not run our own analytics, we do not require or offer accounts, we do not collect names or email addresses, and we do not track you across other websites. Because there is no image upload path, there is also no image retention period, no backup of your files, and no deletion request to make — nothing to delete in the first place. If our practices ever change, this page will be updated before the change takes effect, and the effective date below will reflect it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does ResizeKB upload or store my images?

No. There is no image server at all. Every image you load is processed in your browser's own memory and discarded when you close or reset the page.

What data does ResizeKB collect about me?

We collect no personal data and run no analytics of our own. Advertising partners may set cookies as described in the policy above; you can opt out through your browser or the ad industry's choice tools.

Where is the 'resizekb:last-target-kb' preference stored?

In your browser's local storage, on your device only. It remembers the last target size you used. Clearing your browser data removes it, and disabling storage simply makes the tool fall back to default values.
